NHRA COMING ATTRACTIONS NITRO BLAST OFF, LAS VEGAS, THE STRIP AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, JAN. 18-20: The elite teams of the NHRA POWERade Series will begin making preparations for competition in 2008 at this first of three optional showcase pre-season test sessions. NATIONAL TIME TRIALS, PHOENIX, FIREBIRD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, JAN. 25-27: Pre-season action moves from Nevada to Arizona as the professional teams continue to tweak off-season changes at this second of three optional test sessions. LAST CHANCE TEST SESSION AND PONTIAC PRO STOCK SHOWDOWN, LAS VEGAS, THE STRIP AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, FEB. 1-3: This aptly named test session is the final of three optional events that allow professional drivers to test their machines before formal competition opens for 2008. The 200 mph NHRA Pro Stock cars also will race for bragging rights in the annual Pontiac Pro Stock Showdown. Mopar Mile-High Nationals, Denver, CO -- Greg Anderson and Jason Line were hiding their Pro Stockers behind some sort of curtains. I guess some top secret stuff is going on with their cars that they don’t want the other teams to know about. I think Anderson and Line should be finding out what the other teams have been doing lately since they seem to have the winning edge over this KB Racing team. Stay Tuned! |

7-7-7 Hot Rod Show at Irwindale Dragstrip in Southern California |

The 7-7-7 Hot Rod Show at Irwindale Dragstrip was a huge success and a lot of fun for all. There were nostalgia drag cars, which included Stone, Woods & Cook 1941 Willys, nitro dragsters, altereds and funny cars, plus live music, great exhibits and “Poorman’s Bikini Beach Summer Nationals” and a lot of great action packed drag racing, oh yeah, did I mention the tasty hot dogs. The Cackelfest which featured some memorable front engine dragsters and altereds was awesome, it brought back memories of the good old days of (OCIR) Orange County International Raceway in Southern California. There was also a wheelstander truck called “E Ticket Ride” sponsored by “Pick Your Part.” The crowd went crazy when “E Ticket Ride” went down the track blasting sparks and blowing flames from the headers. Irwindale dragstrip is a great eight-mile track, and believe me, Southern California drag racers appreciate this track very much. Irwindale Dragstrip Website |

Drag racing the eighth-mile is a blast every Thursday night at Irwindale’s eighth-mile strip in Southern California. The Irwindale eighth-mile strip is part of the Irwindale Speedway complex.Thursday Nights T-N-T (test and tune) Under the Lights is a great time for all. $10 to watch or $20 to race, hours: 5:00 - 10:00 PM. Open to all street legal vehicles. NHRA rules apply. |
